Freezer paper transfers and other crafty things

I've been in quite a crafty mood lately. I came across instructions for how to do freezer paper transfers here, and it looked so easy and fun that I decided to try it. It really is easy! If you decide to try it too, just make sure that you use a stenciling brush, or one that you can just dab the paint on. If you use a regular paint brush like I did on my first try, you're more likely to get paint underneath the stencil. I love that freezer paper though, it's so neat the way it sticks to the shirt. I have plans to perhaps do one or two to my plain t-shirts, but I have yet to come up with an adult, cool looking design that I can actually draw. It'll come to me at some point.

I am in love with these flower brooches. Did anyone watch Design Star last weekend? Tashica Morgan is a designer on the show and she was wearing this super cute flower brooch at one point in the show last weekend. I decided to do a little search on etsy, and the brooch above is what I have found. Adorable! But I really wanted to figure out how to make my own, cause I'm in a crafty mood and all. So I bought some satin to try it out, but have yet to master the art of singe-ing (how do you spell that word???) the edge of the fabric so it won't fray. Any ideas? I've been using a candle, but then it always catches on fire. Not exactly the look I'm going for- burned satin.

I've been thinking of what to paint next whenever I get the time, and I've been considering some more nursery prints. Not sure what I'll do yet, but maybe something like I did on the bird t-shirt? (but with other animals) I'll have to think about that some more. Have a great weeekend!
