I know you'll be shocked to know that I didn't quite get around to taking a before picture. But since the kitchen is still in progress then I don't feel so bad. You can still see the ugly linoleum floors. The lady who lived here before us had a great liking for faux bois decor. 3 rooms in the house had the wood-look linoleum floors (the kitchen and 2 bedrooms), and she also used faux bois shelf liner in all the bathroom cabinets, which were also wood. And faux bois countertops in the kitchen too. Crazy, huh? The before picture of the kitchen when we moved in was WOOD. Everywhere. Anyways, we have a small galley kitchen which is one of the things i don't like about our house, but we make do. I painted the cabinets a darkish brown (they're darker than in the picture) to go with the countertops which we installed a year and a half ago. I'm in the middle of painting the walls in the kitchen a pale aqua color. The paintable walls are mostly in the breakfast area, but i also scraped off all the popcorn from the ceiling and painted it the same pale aqua as the walls (see near the oven). We're currently trying to decide on new flooring. You can see the many samples we have lined up against the cabinets. Boy is it a tough decision! We have darker mahogany colored laminate in the living room (that sample is the last one by the wall), but that would look terrible in here. I'm currently really loving a maple color and maybe the cork. Wouldn't cork be so trendy! I'll post after pics when everything is done and all my decor is up. I bought a new modern clock like this one to go in the kitchen. It's really coming along now!
So just going by the picture, do you have any opinions on which floor you like best with everything? It's so hard to coordinate with the cabinets, countertop, etc. Let me know in the comments! We need help!

I can relate!
We have a galley kitchen. We are putting in a new floor this weekend. I'm always amazed that so much work goes into a tiny space.
Best wishes,
Jenn
We can do with tile on tile for this floor.
